We offer specialized tours for children of all ages. Our experiences are adapted to the students’ curriculum and developed with the help of experienced educational specialists.

For children in preschool and lower primary school (from 5 years)
PRESCHOOL AND LOWER PRIMARY SCHOOL
A lighthearted introduction to the mine and its history adapted to the group’s age. During the tour, we learn about the difference between mines and caves and listen to the tale of Bråsta Lasse and how he discovered the silver long ago. We learn about the fire in the mountain and the hard work of the mine workers. We experience what it is like to be in the mine and descend to a depth of 26 meters, look around, and talk about the mine spirit. A thrilling experience that concludes above ground.
Duration: 75 minutes (guided)
Price: 1,350 SEK/group.

for students in middle school
For Students in Middle School
Here we focus on the exciting story of when Sweden became Sweden and how the mine played a decisive role for Gustav Vasa.
The experience begins in our exhibition at Skrädhuset. There we learn about the significance of silver for Gustav Vasa, life for young and old in the Mining Village in the 1500s, and the heavy mining work.
After the visit to the exhibition, it is time to descend 60 meters into the mine. The tour focuses on what we have discussed in the exhibition, and we follow in the footsteps of the kings down into the mine.
Duration: 15 minutes in the exhibition + 60 minutes in the mine.
Price: 1,350 SEK/group.

For Students in Upper Secondary School
Here we learn about hydropower, geology, silver production, and the uses of metals in modern times!
The experience begins at Skrädhuset to view the exhibition Silver, Lead and Zinc and covers the fundamentals of both old and modern mining.
After the visit to the exhibition, it is time to descend 60 meters into the mine. The tour focuses on what we have discussed in the exhibition, from how rocks and minerals have formed to how mining and silver production have evolved throughout history.
Duration: 15 minutes in the exhibition + 60 minutes in the mine.

CREATIVE SCHOOL
Mine Tour and Writing Workshop
This mine package is a collaboration between fantasy author Sofia Jarlo and Sala Silver Mine for students in middle school. You visit the mine at a depth of 60 meters together with one of our mine hosts. After approximately one hour, the mine host leaves the students, and then imagination flows under skilled guidance.
The package is specifically designed to inspire students in literary creation and storytelling. We let the cultural-historical environment of Sala Silver Mine inspire the world of fairy tales and storytelling for both imagination and knowledge. Sofia Jarlo is a bestselling author who has herself written a fictional book series about the underworld inspired by Sala Silver Mine.
The package includes:
